Creator of Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method

Jeanie LoVetri is a recognized expert on Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM) Vocal Pedagogy and creator of Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method. In 2000, she created the term CCM followed by the first college course for CCM in 2002. This ground-breaking work has led the way to significant changes in vocal pedagogy with its emphasis on functional and holistic training for singers in any style.

Publications and Awards

Author of 15 articles in both pedagogy and science in the Journal of Voice and the Journal of Singing, Jeanie received the Van Lawrence Fellowship bestowed by NATS and the Voice Foundation. She sits on the Voice Foundation Advisory Board and is a reviewer for the Journal of Voice and the Australian Voice Journal.

Jeanie has lectured at many colleges and universities and for the British Voice Association (BVA) Pan European Voice Conference (PEVOC), the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), Australian Association of Teachers of Singing (ANATS), as well as at Centro Estudo da Voz in Sao Paulo, Israeli Association of Teachers of Voice, and in hospitals and medical centers in the USA, Canada, South America, Australia and Europe.

Teaching

Jeanie has taught thousands of singers and singing teachers worldwide and has been on five college faculties. Her students have appeared on and Off Broadway and in regional theatre. They have sung at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and at international venues across the world. You can find them on TV, in film, as well as in small churches, schools, music halls, festivals and clubs. They include well-known Grammy and Tony winners recognized in a wide array of styles, as well as exceptional vocal teachers in universities and private studios, including LoVetri Institute Faculty, whose students benefit from her functional and versatile approach to singing.

Training

Trained as a classical soprano, Jeanie LoVetri began performing leading roles in musical theater at age 17, and came to New York City in 1975 where she sang at Lincoln Center, Rockefeller Center, Riverside Church, Marble Collegiate Church, at the Henry Street Settlement Theater, the late "Village Gate" in New York’s Greenwich Village, and in classical and CCM repertoire up until 2020. LoVetri’s singing has been called versatile, unique and expressive by the New York Times.

Meet our team of dedicated faculty from all over the world. Each brings a unique set of experiences in performance, teaching, and education with the common goal of spreading the joy of singing and elevating the skill level of singing teachers regardless of the style they teach. Our faculty are specialists in pop, rock, blues, musical theatre, jazz, country, and classical genres. Many are active performers in rock bands, jazz ensembles, choirs, musical theatre, and singer-songwriter venues. All share the love of teaching with excellence and compassion.
