Jocelyn Medina is a vocalist, composer and educator, specializing in jazz, world music and other CCM genres. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music and a master’s degree in Vocal Jazz Performance from Manhattan School of Music. Jocelyn also completed 2 years of undergraduate studies in classical voice at Stanford University. Additional studies in world music include training in Hindustani Voice (Mumbai, India) and traditional Ghanian music (Kopeyia, Ghana).

As a bandleader, she has toured with jazz ensembles at venues and festivals throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and South America, and released three CDs of original music. Her fourth album, a project focusing on Brazilian jazz, and sponsored by the Boulder County for the Arts Pathways to Jazz grant, is slated to be completed in winter, 2025, Since 2015, Jocelyn has curated and hosted the “Sunday Vocal Jazz Jam” weekly vocal jazz concert and jam session series at venues throughout NYC, currently taking place virtually via Zoom. She was awarded a 2023 JEXA award for Jazz Excellence in recognition for her work through the series in support of the jazz community and continues to spearhead new collaborative jazz events both in-person and online. In addition to her original repertoire, she sings, plays percussion and arranges for her Brazilian Jazz project, is a member of the Boulder Choro Club, and was previously a member and featured soloist of the classical Brooklyn Conservatory Chorale.

As an educator, Jocelyn has worked in K-12 education throughout New York City and pioneered the contemporary voice curriculum as Head of the Vocal Department at the True School of Music in Mumbai, India. In 2024 she joined the Jazz Faculty at the University of Colorado Boulder, directing their new vocal jazz degree program, in addition to her positions on the Voice Faculty of the University of Colorado Denver and the New York Jazz Workshop School of Music.
