Mary Gresock is a voice teacher, singing actress, stage director, and master teaching artist based in the MD/DC/VA area. A graduate with a BM in Music Ed. from The Catholic University of America and an MM in Opera Theatre from University of Maryland, Mary currently serves on the voice faculties of Washington Conservatory of Music, Academy of Fine Arts in Md., and Frederick Community College. As a Master Teaching Artist with the Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts and her own Odyssey Opera Theatre, Mary stage directs musicals, facilitates arts-integrated residencies, and trains new teaching artists all over the country.
Intent on improving her skills as a voice instructor for students interested in Musical Theatre, Mary was encouraged to try a summer of Somatic Voicework™, the Lovetri Method in 2008 and found it was exactly what she needed to help her students. She continued to review all the Levels multiple times, and joined the faculty in 2022.
Mary’s performing career began with Music Theatre summer stock/regional theatres, and drifted into operetta, opera and concert work. She has performed roles with such companies as Washington National Opera, Signature Theatre, Studio Theatre, Baltimore Opera, and Clear Space Theatre. Favorite singing roles include Susanna from The Marriage of Figaro, Adele from Die Fledermaus, and Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady. Highlighted performing experiences include Regina with Patty Lupone at the Kennedy Center, and The Consul directed by its composer, Gian Carlo Menotti, for Washington National Opera.
Mary recently served as a judge for Miss West Virginia, enroute to The Miss America Pageant, and is currently preparing a faculty concert of works celebrating Richard Rogers.
