Ric Ryder got hooked on Somatic Voicework™ in 2017. A voice teacher and coach with a private studio in Hell’s Kitchen (NYC), he primarily teaches his contemporaries and other musical theatre actors on Broadway, off-Broadway, in national tours and theatre around the country as well as pop singers, although he works with many up and coming artists in college conservatories and grads alike. Allied with some of the top laryngologists in NYC, Ric works as part of a care team with singers recovering from vocal injuries. He has been member of esteemed faculties at The Actor’s Studio Drama School MFA program at PACE University, NYU’s Stella Adler and CAP21 Conservatory’s, Catholic University and historic Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival in the Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts.
As an actor, Ric has appeared on Broadway 7 times. Highlights include starring opposite the legendary Carole King in Blood Brothers, Doody in the Rosie O’Donnell revival of Grease!, JC Squires in The Music Man. Off-Broadway, Variety called him “a truly thrilling singer” in Jewish Rep’s world premiere of The Jazz Singer and A New Brain at Lincoln Center among many others.
