Fifty years ago, Jeanie graduated from Greenwich High School in Connecticut and in October Jeanie became, after five decades, a “local celebrity” in a newspaper article featuring her as a focal point of the question “where is she now?” Discussing what has happened to her over the 
course of her varied career with the article’s author, Christina Hennessey, gave Jeanie a chance to reflect on the circuitous path that has brought her to her present life as a singing voice expert. Click here if you would like to read the whole article.
Recent travels took her to Boston where she did a master class for the Voice Department at Berklee College of Music for students and faculty members including Somatic Voicework™ teachers Kaoruko Pilkington and Lisa Thorson. Over the weekend she worked with other Somatic Voicework™ teachers and with students of Kris Adams, Professor at Berklee and also 
Wellesley College. The following weekend she was back in NYC at an open house and a day of working with Somatic Voicework™ teachers and three of their students in the Teacher Support Group. As always, everyone had fun, enjoyed yummy snacks and fine company and the great discussion about vocal pedagogy for CCM styles.
Dr. Irene Bartlett, Professor at Queensland Conservatorium in Brisbane, Australia, and fellow CCM expert, was in town recently and visited with Jeanie, also stopping in to observe her Teacher Support Group in New York. She and Jeanie will be featured in an article by Dr. Melissa Forbes of ArtWorx University in Toowoomba to be published in April in the Journal of Singing. Dr. Forbes is visiting Jeanie for two weeks of study in December and to do initial planning for Jeanie’s return to Australia in 2019 at the University of Southern Queensland.
Jeanie is once again working with Daniel Reichard who is preparing to do an upcoming one man holiday show. Daniel was the original “Bob Gaudio” in Jersey Boys on Broadway and has been performing nationally with The Midtown Men for the last several years.

Plans for the 2018 LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework™ at Baldwin Wallace University in the Community Music School continue. Jeanie is pleased to announce that Jan Potter Reed and Dr. H. Steven Sims will be guest faculty. Ms. Potter Reed is a noted Speech Language Pathologist specializing in voice pathology and Dr. Sims is a nationally recognized laryngologist. Both are from the University of Illinois, Chicago Institute for Voice Care. We are also thrilled to have Dr. Trineice Robinson-Martin as the CCM Specialist. She is a Gospel expert with additional experience in jazz blues and will be giving a master class and lecture. Her book, “So You Want To Sing Gospel” is a best seller and her “Soul Ingredients” is a well-recognized text explaining the most important ingredients in her approach to Gospel and CCM styles. We will also again be joined by Thomas Murray, Music Director for Broadway’s current production of Anastasia in which Jeanie’s student, Christy Altomare, is the star. Michelle Rosen will return to the LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework™ as Senior Faculty and will be joined by Betsy Fiedler as Associate Faculty. We are excited, as we already have had many people ask about joining us next summer in Ohio.

As a very special treat, Dr. Claudio Milstein, Director at the Voice Center of the Head and Neck Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, who was the vocal health lecturer at The LoVetri Institute last July, will return next year to begin a new intensive seminar on vocal health. This will only be offered to those who’ve completed Level III of Somatic Voicework™ as of 2017. We expect this course to become an annual event. Spaces will be very limited, so be alert to announcements of the final dates coming soon.
Those interested in registering to secure a place next summer will be able to do so early in 2018. Last year’s attendance was so high that there will be a cap this year for each level, so those who wish to participate should register as soon as the registration process is open. This will be announced through the college website, through this newsletter, and on the Somatic Voicework™ website in the new year.
Somatic Voicework™ continues to generate interest internationally, as it is solidly based on common sense, accepted science, medical precepts of vocal health and artist viability and their career goals. Excitement in Brazil after last January’s Level I for 68 participants has generated a new invitation by “VocalSP”, the group of speech language pathologists in Sao Paulo who have invited Jeanie to return there. She will be offering another Level I which will be followed by Level II in January of 2018.
