Why do singing voice exercises work — and when they don’t work, why not?
As always, for those who cannot complete the webinar series in real time, all participants can complete the course at their own leisure. All participants will have access to the video archive for 12 months from the final day of the course.
Week I: Strength vs. Tension, Beauty vs. Power (Sunday, March 6th)
Week I will break down some of the most successful vocal exercises down to their component parts, exploring the science of what is really happening when we make different sounds, and deconstruct the when/why of choosing different vocal exercises.
The academic discussion of the exercises will be followed by a practical exploration of the exercises with Jeanie LoVetri demonstrating and working with her esteemed faculty to highlight the successful execution of the various vocal exercises.
Week II: The Source-Filter Model of Vocal Production (Sunday, March 20th)
Week II will explore the interconnected relationship between the vocal folds and the vocal tract. What part of our vocal apparatus is responsible for what? How do these areas interact? How do you isolate them? How do you know what to fix when something goes wrong?
The academic discussion of the exercises will be followed by a practical exploration of the exercises with Jeanie LoVetri demonstrating and working with her esteemed faculty to highlight the successful execution of the various vocal exercises.
