Prejudice Against Singers?
... Jeannette LoVetri

Thank you, Mary Jane. You are one composer who understands the voice and knows how to write for it beautifully. Wish there were more like you, but you are so unique, that would be impossible. Thanks for your comments! Jeanie

Your students are lucky, Lynn, to have someone who enjoys teaching — someone who is getting happiness out of helping them. Many teachers of singing are sour on the whole topic because of their own failures. It’s good, too, that you knew you weren’t cut out to be a up on stage. Much better than trying for years only to go to teaching as a “defeated performer”. Thanks for your comment.

OK, let’s say that I REALLY REALLY don’t like this. REALLY. It would be bad for any number of reasons but to have her sing it in front of Liza, in front of the film, is disgusting. Let’s just say that it is a representation of where the industry is now. There are NO standards for anything other than “do your own thing” and if it makes you rich and famous — good for you. I actually like Pink, but she should stick to what she usually does and leave the real singing of real songs to people who actually know how to do that. I could go on……

Quick Fix

Sad, but true. They expect the music to “make up the difference”. Wrong headed and the student is always “to blame”. Yuk.

Your Unknown Power

It may not bear any resemblance to the outside truth, but it’s true on the inside because it’s their’s. That’s all that matters.
