This month many of our Somatic Voicework™ teachers have been performing all over the world, sharing their shining singing in all sorts of venues, including: Suzzanne Douglas, Jamie Leonhart, Carolyn Leonhart, Theo Bleckmann, and many others.
We look forward to Jeanie’s return trip to Brazil in January where she will be teaching Level I and Level II, again at the invitation of Vocal Sao Paulo, a group of SLPs there who have done Jeanie’s work. A very large group of people have already registered for this training and Jeanie is excited to be visiting this lovely country again. Along with husband, Jerry Kaplan, Jeanie will be looking forward to spending two weeks in warm, sunny South America in the dead of the chilly NYC winter!
In February, Jeanie will be master clinician for the NATS Kansas Conference. Details will be announced in January’s newsletter.
Piotr Zielinski, our webmaster, continues to develop our Somatic Voicework™ website and we really need to hear from you in order to make sure it meets your needs and interests. Be sure to be in touch!

Our roster for next summer’s LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework™ at Baldwin Wallace University is now solid. Our guests will be leading experts in their fields, bringing excellent medical, clinical, stylistic and physical knowledge and experience to all participants. The medical lecturer is Dr. H. Steven Sims (http://www.chicagovoicecare.com/aboutus.html) of the Chicago Institute for Voice Care at the U of Illinois. He will be joined by his colleague, Speech Language Pathologist, Jan Potter Reed (http://www.chicagovoicecare.com/aboutus.html) , who is a speaking voice specialist. Our music theater expert is back by popular demand. Tom Murray (https://www.anastasiabroadway.com) , Music Director of Anastasia on Broadway, returns to the LoVetri Institute to do a master class on auditioning and will answer questions about getting cast in Broadway productions. Dr. Trineice Robinson-Martin (http://www.drtrineice.com/index.html) is bringing her uniquely wonderful “Soul
Ingredients” to help participants in a master class of Gospel, R&B and Jazz styles. Suzan Postel (http://thebodysings.com/RdMXk/) and Peter Shor (http://www.petershor.com/Resume.html) (both!) are bringing their bodywork expertise to separate demonstrations of their unique and valuable skills improving physical movement and awareness. As we rely so much upon our bodies when we sing, this information is vital to being more deeply in touch with posture, breathing, release of tension, and sensory response of all kinds. Both are Somatic Voicework™ graduates and singers as well as being experts in their own fields. Faculty liaison, Benjamin Czarnota, will be returning and be joined by Betsy Fiedler as Associate Faculty, and Jeff Costello, newly appointed as Sound Engineer. The media coordinator is our own Billy Gollner, who is our newsletter editor. The group will be headed by Michelle Rosen, who is Senior Faculty, and will be assisting Jeanie, teaching, lecturing, performing and
mentoring throughout the course. Others will be participating as breakout faculty. Participants can consult the website soon to get the dates and schedule, which is still being developed.

Since we had a full house last summer, once registration is open, we encourage you to register early, as there will be a cap in the number of participants this summer and you don’t want to miss the chance to be there. AND, if you have completed Level III by 2017, you will be eligible for the Intensive lead by Dr. Claudio Milstein, nationally recognized Speech Language Pathologist from the Cleveland Clinic, who will be presenting a special course on vocal health just for our Somatic Voicework™ graduates.
There will be fun evening presentations, lots of opportunities to socialize and to munch healthy foods during the breaks. Berea is a lovely town about 40 minutes away from downtown Cleveland. We urge you to come to the ORIGINAL Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Training Course, taught by Jeanie. Come study with a leader in the field who is recognized internationally for her versatile singing, knowledge of vocal function, voice science, stylistic authenticity and for helping singers find what is best for body, mind and heart.
We wish everyone a very joyous holiday and a happy, healthy New Year. Music is magic and we are the conjurers of light. May each of us share our songs in 2018 and in so doing, shine the light of love into many hearts.
