Bidi Dworkin is a jazz-folk vocalist. Her childhood was laced with music, as she listened to her physician/musician father practice his alto sax as well as host live jam sessions in the family living room. Throughout high school and college she performed as a folk singer in coffeehouses and festivals.
Her career as a modern dancer in New York City, led to her becoming a devoted yoga teacher in Vermont. She would sing, when guiding her students into a restful state. It was then-and- there that her love of song was re-vitalized.
Her debut album, Beautiful Souvenirs (2020, Twenty Two Productions) was arranged by legendary jazz vocalist Jay Clayton. Bidi offers her interpretation of (lesser known) jazz standards as well as songs from the folk tradition.
Her current project, New History, brings her back to her earliest musical roots which include jazz-pop-and folk songs from the 1960’s -1980’s, as well as her original compositions.
Bidi thanks all musical luminaries who cast their light, including Jay Clayton, Meredith Monk, Theo Bleckmann, Laurie Antonioli, Sheila Jordan, Kate McGarry, Rhiannon, Brenda Earle Stokes, Fay Victor, Peter Eldridge and Ayelet Rose Gottlieb.
Active as a voice teacher, she is certified through The Lovetri Institute of Somatic Voicework TM.

Bidi taught me several vocal warm-up exercises to practice between lessons. She was sincere with her attention, gentle with her correction and generous with her praise. Much to my delight, both ends of my range increased with just three lessons with Bidi.
