Born in Rome, Canadian soprano Erica Northcott has earned a uniquely active professional performing career in choral, early music, oratorio, operetta, chamber, symphonic, contemporary theatre and commercial music. She has been the recipient of many awards in national and international competitions, and has performed in North and South America, Europe and Japan and the high seas of Alaska.
Erica is certified Level III in Somatic Voicework ™ the LoVetri Method from the Contemporary Commercial Music Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah University. Recently she received certification from the inaugural course of Joan Melton, One Voice (Integrating Theatre and Singing Technique) in NYC. A graduate of UBC, she is an advocate of healthy functional vocal use and is an active, encouraging and sought after festival adjudicator throughout western Canada. She is currently on faculty and the Voice Division Head at Douglas College Music Department, New Westminster. She teaches privately and leads workshops in body movement, acting for singers and interpretation.
