My philosophy of education can be broken down into the following: •Vocal technique and health- A well-honed technique serves as the foundation for exquisite and enjoyable performances. In my studio, I focus upon anatomy, physiology, and kinesthetic awareness, paired with specific technical exercises which serve as the building blocks of healthy singing. A holistic approach, which seeks to address all aspects of human expression, can create a thriving artist. •Development of strong, flexible, and equalized voices. Every student possesses a voice that is unique, and therefore must be addressed as an individual. Through the use of specific functional vocal exercises, I teach students how to develop strong and beautiful voices that express the full ability and range of their given instrument. •Collaborating to create artistic performances through careful coaching. Since 1995, I have served the Chicago music and theatre communities as a music director and vocal coach for music theatre, cabaret, jazz, choral, and operatic productions. In my studio work, I provide performers, of any idiom or style, with sensitive and reflective suggestions, that allow them to create powerful choices which lead to creating moving performances. When needed, together, we will select repertoire which highlights your abilities and empowers your artistic intentions.
