I am a speech-language pathologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. I receive referrals from primary care physicians and otolaryngologists to perform a diagnostic evaluation of the voice. This is performed both instrumentally through visualization of the larynx and vocal folds during a video endoscopic examination and while listening to the voice in a speaking and singing voice evaluation. I work with my patients to determine goals for a course of speaking and/or singing voice therapy aimed at maximizing voice function. The therapy is not a substitute for singing lessons, but to rehabilitate the singing voice so that it is healthy enough to begin or resume singing lessons.
