Teaching is what I was called to do, and I always enjoy welcoming new students to my studio. Please contact me for a free consultation.

I am a professional voice teacher, teaching artist, musical director, and vocal habilitation coach. My private music studio is in Fairfax, Virginia. For 21 years, hundreds of students from throughout the DC Metro Area have trained with me. My students span the age spectrum: adults, college students, children & teens.

Although I have various music jobs, my expertise is in vocal performance—in Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM) repertoire (Broadway/musical theatre, jazz, pop and gospel) and in classical repertoire (art song, opera, and oratorio).

Each singing student is unique. By identifying their learning styles, I help singers improve while accessing their easiest and most natural vocal skills. When they are ready, I gradually teach them advanced, functional skills that clarify tone, extend range, increase endurance and flexibility. improve enunciation and balance beauty with strength. I also help each student set and reach short-term, intermediate and long-term goals with their singing--for an audition for a show or a conservatory program, a professional or amateur performance, a competition or ongoing vocal development.

for 21 years, Ms. Halick has also been a teaching artist at Center Stage for Dance & the Performing Arts in Fairfax, where she and her partner Laura Schmidt train young performers in Broadway song and dance during their weekly musical theatre workshop. Recently, Ms. Halick also worked as the vocal coach at the Professional Musical Theatre and Actors Studio at Fairfax Academy for Communication and the Arts, directed by stage and screen actor Michael Replogle.

She has been on the applied voice faculty at the Northern Virginia Community College, Annandale Campus, and was the chorus teacher at Bishop O’Connell High School from 2001-2004.

In 2001, Ms. Halick graduated from The Catholic University of America’s master of music program in vocal performance.
A full lyric soprano, she has studied with Andrea Thornock, Martha Randall, Elizabeth Daniels, Carla Rae Cook and Jeannette LoVetri. Ms. Halick is an active member of three vocal associations: the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association, & the Somatic Voicework™ Teachers Association. She speaks Italian, French and German proficiently.

A curious musician, Ms. Halick avidly reads the latest research about the function of the voice. She has attended the Voice Foundation's annual Symposium: Care of the Professional Voice. In 2005, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014 she attended the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia. In addition to being a certified Level III graduate of the summer institute, Ms. Halick has taken post certification courses on Country Singing Styles, Gospel Singing Styles, Bodywork for Singers with Peter Schor, Technology in the Voice Studio, Assessing and Training the Injured Voice, Speaking and Singing with One Voice and Soul Ingredients' Methodology: When Science Meets Soul.
